Meet the guy behind the Kansas Taco Festival
With over 10,000 expected attendees, 25 taco teams to try, and a plethora of live entertainment, interactive games and competitions, the Kansas Taco Festival has become one of Topeka’s most anticipated events in 2018. The festival is hosted by the large-scale-event planning company Zach Events, based in Topeka, Kansas.

Zach Haney has been breaking the mold since childhood, when he would research companies and connect with CEO’s across the country to learn about how they became successful.
At the age of 14, Haney developed the community service organization, Teens Taking Action. The created an annual free carnival for the guests residing at the Topeka Rescue Mission. The organization impacted thousands of people across the country and was later adopted by the YMCA.
He published his first book, “The Teen CEO” at age 19. His book was inspired by his success in creating one of the fastest-growing party rental companies in the U.S. by the age of 18, winning him a place among America’s Top 5 Young Entrepreneurs. At age 20 he became a franchise owner of Street Corner News, ran for Kansas Senate, and at 21, became a certified business coach.
After planning free carnivals for the guests at the Topeka Rescue Mission, entrepreneur Zach Haney shortly discovered he had another passion — event planning. This soon sparked an idea, at the age of 16, Haney launched his own successful party rental company, the Carnival Guy.
The Carnival Guy celebrated its fifth anniversary in 2017. In 2018, Haney officially launched his sister company, Zach Events.
Zach Events is expected to produce 10+ events in 2018. The Kansas Taco Festival will be one of the largest Haney and his team have ever produced. Planning one of the tastiest and most exciting food festivals in Kansas is no simple task.
Haney enjoys planning events because ‘I get to be creative and disrupt the status quo,’ he said. ‘There are many challenges and sometimes people look at you like you're either naive or crazy. I could be both.’ Haney laughed.
Haney said his goal is to
produce top-notch events that create exciting and memorable experiences for his guests that will last a lifetime. He believes the Kansas Taco Festival will do just that.
Imagine this: taco vendors battling it out for the title of “best taco”, live music to dance the afternoon away, outdoor games, inflatables, and a helping of fun under the Kansas sun. And that’s just the beginning. The first Kansas Taco Festival will feed thousands of taco lovers on August 11, 2018 on the grounds of Tinman Circle at Lake Shawnee.
This taco lovers paradise will feature twenty-five taco teams from across the midwest dishing out unique taco tastings ranging from chicken, beef, pork, and seafood to veggie, sweets, and everything in between, the Taco Competition will dub one of these taco teams the winner of “best taco” and dole out a $3,000 cash prize to the winners.
‘I mean, who doesn’t love tacos?’ Haney said
